Graham Richard

Senior Advisor

Graham Richard is Senior Advisor to Win Together.

A former Indiana state senator and business entrepreneur, Graham Richard brought his expertise in best business practices to city government in 2000 as mayor of Fort Wayne, IN. During his two terms, he helped turn the Fort Wayne city government into a lean, results-producing, customer-focused organization for Indiana’s second largest city. Mayor Richard helped taxpayers save more than $31 million while improving city services. The story of that experience and the use of Lean Six Sigma is captured in his book Performance is the Best Politics.

In 2007, the Indiana Chamber of Commerce honored Mayor Richard by naming him Government Leader of the Year.  During Mayor Richard's tenure, the City of Fort Wayne won national awards for the #1 Fleet Operation, and best Public Works and City Utilities Department in the country.

Graham’s passion is working to accelerate clean energy projects to reduce costs for low-income communities by leveraging IRA grants, loans and tax credit financing. His unique experiences in pioneering the use of Lean Six Sigma in local governments have been written about in numerous articles and were featured in the book Lean Six Sigma for Service. He is uniquely positioned to influence support for continuous improvement executive staff levels and with elected officials, and to provide strategic advisory services to support sustainable cultures of excellence for Win Together’s clients.

Mayor Richard received an Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters from Indiana University in May 2010. He graduated from the Princeton University with a BA at the School of Public and International Affairs.
